Mint Julep Masque For Acne Treatment

I recently used something called a Mint Julep Masque (I got mine from Walgreens) I had heard about this product for a while but was never able to find it in any store (if you face this problem it can be bought online as well). It was supposed to be the holy grail of acne treatment. Well I have used it a few times and it does seem to be quite effective. I feel that when it comes to acne an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. But I have used a high priced (over $100) acne zapper before and got little to no results (other than a sharp sting) and this masque which cost less than $4 was more effective. So it is worth it to have on hand just in case you do suffer from a breakout.

There seems to be two schools of thought when it comes to this product. The first is that it seems to be the greatest acne fighting tool ever. The second is that it is terrible and actually causes acne. The majority of users seem to be in the first group although there are certainly quite a few in the second group.

However after looking at several cases of individuals that blamed the product for actually causing more damage I found a common trend, I believe that everyone used the product at least once a day, a few even used it a couple of times a day.

I read somewhere that you should only use it once every three days and it seems that all of the people that liked the product followed a similar rule, many of them only using a little bit on a particular spot instead of covering their whole face. I try to only use it once every 72 hours at most and add an extra day if I can.

So this seems to be the key. Wash your face, apply and let sit for about 15 minutes, clean it off (many people like to shower here) and then wait at least three days before reuse. If you only have one small spot then just hit that spot and don’t cover the whole face. Some people use the product on their whole face once a week and after three for four days use it only if needed for a small spot and repeat this cycle, once a week for whole face and once for spot treatment.

So I think that this can be a useful tool for fighting acne but don’t overdo it or you won’t get good results!
