You see, it all depends on which type of starch it comes from. For example, if it comes from corn, potato or rice then yes it will be gluten free. If on the other hand it comes from wheat or rye, then no, it will not be free from gluten.
Citric acid is often purchased for home use for many of the reasons listed above. When kept at room temperature, it will maintain its crystallized form. This type of acid can be created in either a water-free form (anhydrous) that crystallizes from hot water or can become crystallized with the assistance of cold water (monohydrate). However, by the time many people purchase the product, it is already in a crystalline powder form.
When creating a diet plan to reduce acid reflux, it is more important to concentrate on what not to eat rather than make a list of what you should eat. Foods and drinks to avoid include all caffeinated beverages (tea, coffee and most sodas), any fruits containing citric acid (oranges, grapefruits, lemons and limes), all spicy foods, chocolate, creamed soups, whole milk, anything fatty or fried (like fast food), and peppermint or spearmint.
